Fast and Furious Fund Raising for school supplies in the Afar village of Hamed Ela, Danakil, Ethiopia.

Hamed Ela

In the Afar village we stayed in, Hamed Ela, the school there comprises of wooden sticks and woven mats precariously assembled to form a hut and has no supplies such as papers, pencils, books or desks for the 102 students. Memorization is their primary way of learning. The village has no electricity or sewage/latrine system.

The tour company we traveled with, Pangean Safaris, run by a husband-and-wife team, Christos and Liza Andreou, expressed interest in starting a grass-roots campaign to help distribute school supplies to this tiny remote village in the Danakil of Ethiopia. Create for a Cause decided to help. We are trying to raise close to $700 by next week, Sept 1, to transfer funds over.

  • Cash or Checks can be made out to Create for a Cause and mailed to Chrissie Lam at 2 Cooper Square. Apt 5M. NYC NY 10003 or Paypal-ed to

We will be provided the receipts of the purchases and Liza and Christos will photo document the delivery and distribution of the school supplies around the 17-18 of September, just in time for new years in Ethiopia. The photos will be posted on my site,
