' Generation Rwanda graphic design (above) printed on donated super soft Save Khaki tees will be available for purchase at the Generation Rwanda cocktail party on Oct. 20 in NYC for $40. 100% of the proceeds will go to sponsor scholarships thanks to generous donations of time, talents, materials and services by Derek Roberts, David Mullen at Save Khaki and Lincoln Mayne.

Ogilvy's re-brand of Orphans of Rwanda to Generation Rwanda

Generation Rwanda (formerly known as Orphans of Rwanda) is dedicated to helping orphans and other socially vulnerable young people in Rwanda pursue a university education and ultimately become leaders in fostering economic development and social reconciliation.

In conjunction with Generation Rwanda's re-brand and relaunch, Mae Lindsey, the organization's development coordinator, contacted me about having a graphic designed for tees to sell. My friend and colleague, Derek Roberts, offered to help. Here is his take on the design:

The type is inspired from Shepard Fairey's "Haiti" tee shirt,
as well as vintage 60's logos and Rwandan patterned woven baskets. The illustration is based on breathtaking landscapes of Rwanda and incorporates an interpretation of Generation Rwanda's new shining sun logo in the backdrop.

In addition, Save Khaki donated 90 tees to the cause and Lincoln Mayne offered up his silkscreening services pro-bono. Thanks so much you guys!

I can't wait to see how the tees come out! :-)
