Rockin’ for Rwanda, a live music benefit featuring Afrobeat and funk bands Ikebe Shakedown, Mamarazzi, and The People’s Champions will take place:

The $10 cover charge will directly benefit Global Peace Exchange, a registered non-profit organization affiliated with Florida State University and dedicated to advancing humanitarian efforts in Byimana, Rwanda and in other locations around the world. Musician Katie Letts will open the show with a strong blues sound for happy hour, transitioning to a dynamic evening of Afrofunk music.
The college students who established Global Peace Exchange in 2006 have been recognized by the Rwandan president and the Bill Clinton Foundation for their previous projects. They are currently working with the Rwandan education ministry and teaching English and Computer Literacy courses to local villagers, expanding educational and information technology opportunities in Rwanda.
